From electrician to zoologist: Acampo senior can do it all
From: NewsTrove.com

"Welsh's experiences • Welsh has had unique experiences. He was paid to be a whistler at one point. He was in a collegiate bar, listening to a band play, and he whistled along with it. One of the band members asked him if he would like to whistle with the band. Occasionally, Welsh still hears some of the recorded songs with his whistling in it. •Welsh has traveled throughout Central and South America, retracing the footsteps of evolutionary theorist Charles Darwin, something he said zoologists should be interested in doing. He traveled down to Tierra del Fuego and has gone down the Amazon river and major tributaries."

"Being terribly clever can make for terrible comedy. Freedomland, Amy Freed's odd play about a family of brilliant eccentrics, spews clever lines 90 to nothing for more than two hours. "Sentimentality is a form of murderous aggression," quips art critic Titus (Lee Trull), staring at a kitschy painting titled "Clowns Attending the Funeral of a Parakeet." Polly, a frustrated academic (Molly Milligan), agonizes over not finishing her long-stalled dissertation on "the secret lives of the women in The Iliad." Her sister Sig (Ellen Locy) begs their blowsy stepmom Claude (the deliciously daft Gail Cronauer) to "wake up and smell the Kama Sutra."

Berkshire Eagle Online - Other Opinions

"I AWAKE this morning to the thin whistling of the wind through the slightly open window. It is still dark out and the sun rises not in a glory of streaks of orangy pink clouds against a robin's egg blue sky, but with a slow easing in of pallid gray light. As soon as it is bright enough, the chickadees and titmice dart to and fro, to and fro the feeder as if this would be their last meal. Winter is tough on birds, yet not nearly as tough as man -- man, the hunter, man, the protector of crops, man, the controller of the environment -- has been on many avian species."

"My two budgies are adjustng just fine i think. their poo is no longer runny, and their eating in my pressence now. yesterday i began my attempt to "hand tame" them. i slowly opened the cage and place my hand inside. once they adjusted to that, i very very slowly started to stroke their backs and fronts. Trumbstick was a little freaked by this and nipped at my finger. but Crispy (who is a yonger bird, i think) is a big ol softy. She'l even sit on my finger and let me run a finger down her back. im leaving the cage door open while im in the room from now on, but so far neither of them have felt the impulse to explore. im hoping they'l start chirping and playing with the 50 bucks worth of toys i got them in a few days.

il post pictures soon, once i get my digital camra back form my sister."
