A Merry Christmas for local pets
From: NewsTrove.com

"Pets belonging to homebound Petaluma residents had presents under their trees this year, thanks to local residents. The Petaluma Animal Shelter's food and toy drive for pets benefited 59 dogs, 48 cats and a parakeet owned by clients of Meals on Wheels and the Committee on the Shelterless (COTS). Both organizations deliver regular hot meals to their homebound clients. "Our community is incredibly generous," said Nancee Tavares, animal services manager. "We simply asked for donations and people immediately responded with bags of food, new beds, toys and grooming products. Others sent in cash donations."

"at what age do budgies hit sexual maturity and what kind of behaviors can i expect from that?

also.... when exactly do budgies start their first big molt? was it 6 months or a year?
shanks is starting to gain adult characteristics [he's molted the barring in his head and the white irises are starting to become noticable], so i was curious if i could gauge his age from that.

Birdies
From: www.livejournal.com

"I don't believe I've ever posted any pictures of my birds. Since I seem digital camera challenged, I had my dad take a picture of my two birds the other night.

The teal colored one is Coco. She's about *thinks* 5-6 years old and is growing in a bunch of new feathers on her head... hence all the lovely pin feathers. The light green/yellow budgie is my new bird, who seems to have picked up the name (Little) Buddy. I havn't made too much progress taming him, but I'm going to keep working on him. He seems to enjoy falling of his perch and flapping around maddly at the bottom of his cage whenever I stick my hand in his cage. I'm not sure if he likes stressing himself out or what. Hopefully he'll realize sooner or later that I'm really not that dangerous."
