"Heehee. my birds were sitting on the rim of my empty chili bowl, and now they have chili tails."

call of the wild
From: www.livejournal.com

"shanks has been doing this all morning, where he randomly starts flapping his wings and sqawks. at first i thought he was just being silly. then as i was reading through [info]cockatiels's posts where someone asked a similar question.

from the jist of the responses it's some sort of courtship/mating thing.

then i realized shanks has been doing this because there are a couple of juncos and/or black capped chikadees bouncing around the trees outside his window. he made the saddest little noise after one of his failed attemps to get their attention. its far too cold out to open the window for him to call back and forth with the juncos.

i feel bad, maybe my consideration to get him a birdie friend of some sort isn't such a bad idea. though i am looking into different species, such as tiels or a parrotlet. i've heard parrotlets can be rather agressive towards other species though. cockatiel on the other hand, are quite compatable."
